Best guitarists??
Alright, time for a super music nerd thread... we are hanging out in a record shop after all! lol. So, who is/are the best guitarist(s)??? AAAAAND GO!

Saucy1360- 03-21-2008

-Jonny Greenwood -Jimmy Page (of course)

I'll add Steve Howe (from Yes).

Stephen Malkmus has transformed himself into a (the?) indie guitar god

Tsuru- 03-21-2008

Ooo... nice one. Yeah, that last album, he commanded the spirits of the hippie rock gods!

Guarmar- 03-24-2008

I'm still not feeling the new album, and this really upsets me cause I love Pavement and the rest of his solo efforts. Extended rock jams are just not for me I guess. :(

Tsuru- 03-24-2008

Funny, it's just the opposite for me. I haven't really connected to Malkmus until I heard this. So, now I got to go revisit all the old albums!!!

coldrosess- 03-24-2008

pavement's "crooked rain crooked rain" is a great album

How about J.Mascis? I recently saw Dinosaur Jr and had to turn to my friend's ear and yell: He may not be much of a lead singer, but he'd be quite an expert level on Guitar Hero.. admission: i've never played GuitarHero. How about Brian May?

clozeyoureyes- 04-02-2008

I'm going to have to throw John Fusciante out there. Keith Richards is still one of my favourite guitarists...his style is just unique - the mix between lead and rhythm.

SRV Eric Clapton Jimi (obvious) Thurston Moore Lee Ronaldo Robert Johnson Just to name a few...

How about Brian May? Ooh, good call. I was just listening to "Backed Out on The..." from the Kevin Drew record, and basking in the awesomeness of J. Mascis. Love Dino Jr. too, that must have been a great show.

of course Jimi Hendrix deserves a top spot. and i'm sorry billybadhands, but i've seen a young Eric Clapton get schooled on the Johnny Cash show by Carl Perkins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In81MKHi-vY
