Congrats Story!! I'm hoping to do a practice run on the weekend - hopefully I won't slow Tsuru down too much!

Tsuru- 05-21-2008

Today was my forth go.... perfect weather today and no laptop to lug. Ended up getting my best time yet, 70 mins! That's an average of about 14.6 miles per hour! Not bad, eh? Last night, we hooked tsurubride up with the thinner tires, tonight I'm tuning her up (and doing some adjustments on my bike). Then this weekend we are doing a HUGE bike ride together to see how it goes. WHEE! Hey story, how was your ride home?

story- 05-22-2008

Riding home is not fun.

Tsuru- 05-22-2008

no? How much are you riding? I'm going to try to keep the 3 times a week, maybe add a round trip on my half-day fridays in the summer.

story- 05-22-2008

I don't know how much I'll keep riding. I really like riding to work, it's just the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is huff it home. I will do it again though, before the my office moves to a new location further away this summer. Once the office moves, I won't be able to handle the ride (too far). Also, I really need new tires.

Hey! I got a trophy from my work for participating and being a first time bike to work rider. We were also given free lunch before the little awards ceremony.

Hey! I got a trophy from my work for participating and being a first time bike to work rider. We were also given free lunch before the little awards ceremony. SWEET! Today was rough! Tapas, vino, and sweet lovins are NOT conducive for a 17 mile ride.... fortunately, I had carie's elixir to help me make it!

fortunately, I had CamelBak's elixir to help me make it! all fixed. So, do you like the elixir? Everybody here swears by it. I prefer the lemon lime, but the orange flavor has some caffeine in it for that extra perk. The best though, is the berry flavor, currently being developed.

Yeah, it was pretty good.. it was a really rough ride, so it must've helped! I actually diluted it a little, the lemon-lime was good, just a little strong. It was good that it didn't have any sugar, only 10 calories, not bad! I think I'll save 'em for the rough days... lol. or for the days I attempt round trips!

okay, found an old one-piece handle bar, removed the schwinn and put it on, wrapped it with handle bar grip tape. Oh, and put the back brakes on the front tire. Here's the final result. Next up, I'm looking for a cheap old 10 speed to turn into my CCCP (Communist Canadian Commuter Peoplebike)... ;)

Tsuru- 05-26-2008

well, checked the weather, the first rain this morning was just a small cloud, the big one is coming later.... so I went for the ride. Ended up doing about 17 miles on a big round trip up columbus over and back down... Here's my path: Took about 70-75 minutes. So, that's a pretty good speed, feels good to get a ride in without making work my destination. i.e. destination-free, truly my own self pushing myself for nothing but for riding....

Tsuru- 05-26-2008

Also... Found this on craigslist: It's still available, but I'm trying to get him down to $50. This would be fun to trick up to a single speed! WHEEE!!!

you see that map? I go Northeast the whole way..... well, today, the wind was going southwest the whole time!!! Damn you mother nature!!!

hilarious bike blog... http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/ he's rather against fixed gear bikes.... and whether or not you agree with him is whatever, but you have to admit, he's a clever writer!
