Just bought a helmet! It's not really custom to wear a helmet in DK. Had a couple of accidents happen to people I know, which means I'm not taking chances anymore. A couple montha ago a good friend of mine got hit by a car whilst riding her bike, she was hurt pretty bad. A couple weeks ago, someone I know had an accident too and is now in a coma. Yesterday a friend of mine wrote, saying she was in the hospital. Just got through a five hour long operation. Broke her arm, her jaw and lost a couple of teeth. I'm wearing a helmet from now on!! :(

Yeah, for the first time in my 35 years, I'm wearing a helmet. I've been riding bikes for as long as I can remember, for fun, commuting, off-road, on-road, and never wore a helmet. Except now. I think I was extremely lucky. And I'm not willing to push that luck anymore. ;)

It's surprising to me just how many people I have recently come across that are getting more and more into biking. I'm not sure if it's an age thing, or a pro-*test*-('") against high gasoline prices, but all of a sudden, everybody is riding their bikes to work. And not just at my place of work (which is an obvious choice for a bike riding employee) but at companies all over the place. Crazy.

here, the weather has gotten quite nice. I noticed, the prettier the day, the more bicycles I see around work.

I had a go on the bike with the child seat attached yesterday and loved it. It's so much fun to go for a ride with my son right there, enjoying it all.

I had a go on the bike with the child seat attached yesterday and loved it. It's so much fun to go for a ride with my son right there, enjoying it all. that's awesome! I think having him growing up loving the bike is a great thing! I LIVED on my bike for most of my life. Biking to work as a chef, and then in college, and then here, has been fantastic. Not too mention all the child hood memories on my bikes..... good and bad, they are great stories... :D I'm on the hunt for the next bike to fix up, think I'll make the next one a "fixie" and either keep it, or sell it for $$$... WOOP! Who knows.... maybe I'll be able to quit my day job one day.

Bought two bikes before heading up to TO.... this one, which I casually put $20 in an auction and apparently won it.... it's an 82 Concord 12 speed.... SWEET! And a "GT Force" 21 speed road back, pretty nice, has some rust and wasn't taken care of properly, but I can totally get her looking & running GREAT! Got it for only $75. Got pix in my camera, the craigslist posting is down. Very cool! Fantastic deal!!! It's a $500 bike when it was new... WHEE!

here's a photo of the GT Force I got for $75!

on the drive out to Port Perry, we saw a home bike repair shop, we stopped and there were a whole slew of bikes for parts around the shed, I picked up an old Skyline De Luxe Canada 10 speed for parts for $10 CAD. WOOP! We just got back in from Toronto, had the bike in the back the car the whole way! ha!
