Really nice show last night. we had a little indoor smorgasbord of sorts, finger foods and wine before heading up with our best friends.
The back-up singer opened for them, had a very pretty voice (Becky something, no swag for her), but looked & acted mildly mentally challenged. Couldn't play her guitar to save her life. No matter, over time M. Ward came out, as well as Zooey and the rest of the band to help out on a few songs....
Then they all came back out (the opening act had changed dresses) and kicked right into songs off the album.
Banter is not Zooey's forte apparently, as she pretty much just went from song to song. They sounded fantastic though, M. Ward was a quiet rock in the back, running the band with leading nods and looks kicking out some occasional amazing guitar work, while Zooey impressed with, not only her singing, but her tinkering on the piano occasionally.
They sang 2 new songs part way through the show, and both sounded really nice before heading back to the album songs and finishing up.
Of course there was an encore (why do we still do encores? what would happen if a band just played a great show and was done?), where they played some torch song, and one of the songs from Tsurubride & I's wedding mixtape, "Bring It On Home To Me" from Redding & Etta James.
And that was it.
Small, classy venue, really should've had chairs, as the set up and venue really lended to a sit down, intimate type concert, but we stood while our heads bobbed side to side.
Simple, easy peasy, relatively quick, and quite lovely. It was at the Wexner Arts Center, probably would've been better suited at the old Ohio Theatre but whatever.
Good times....
Baby, got a sexy t-shirt (which she will probably sport today) and I pick up another copy of the record to give away to one of our fabulous society members!
WOOOP!
:D

Damn you, C-Bus. Damn you.
Tsuru- 08-05-2008

Not only that, but my shift starts at 6 AM.

you'd been home by 2am at the LATEST. It was quick. Like I said, banter is not Zooey's forte.

Okay....
It looks like a SLEW are coming my way, I don't want to miss out, but keeping track of show dates is ridiculously difficult for me. Soooooooooooooooo I'm adding them here.

Dude, I dunno about you, but I need sleep in order to do my job. Lots of it. 2 AM would be just fine on a friday or saturday, but definitely not during the week. If I went to work on four hours or so of sleep, not even coffee would save me.
