Oh man oh man.. can't wait!!! Leaks will be policed heavily with it being subpop.

SeeHarlie- 03-31-2008

Heck, if I was them I wouldn't give it to anyone to review until the release date if I was worried about leaks. People aren't going to be waiting for the reviews for this one.

I suspect this album will have serious love or hateness about it due to fanboys (like me) vs. high expectations. For some reason, I can see a backlash happening on krug & co, the indie-kids suddenly turning on them if they get too popular. I hope I'm very wrong.

The new songs are all great played live. Whether or not they will translate well into studio recordings is what all the anticipation is about. If you have seen Wolf Parade play any of these songs live, then you should be a fan already.

SeeHarlie- 03-31-2008

Not sure why, but I can't see Wolf Parade gaining mainstream popularity even like Modest Mouse has.

Tsuru- 03-31-2008

Me neither, I'm talking about the indie-boys & girls... I have NOTHING to base it on, but for some reason, I fear a backlash is a-comin'.

As a boy who particularly enjoys indie music, and hangs out with self proclaimed hipsters - I can say that Wolf Parade already has the popularity that turns scenesters off. But fuck those kids, anyone who knows anything about music will give their new album a chance regardless. In regards to high expectations; Arcade Fire has had mainstream sucess but their following seems to be the same as it's always been. Everyone had huge expectations for Neon Bible and quite frankly I don't think they met everyones expectations - still they're doing fine and indie-kids still like them. I don't neccessarily think a hipster/indie backlash really even occured with Modest Mouse...I think everyone who listened and enjoyed them before Good News still listens and enjoys them. But it's hard not to cringe as college jocks stumble out of bars with an arm wrapped around some Paris Hilton-esque girl fumbling through a verse of Float On. Relative mainstream success on the next Wolf Parade album would make fanboys like you and I happy knowing that the band gets what it deserves - money. For every anti-folk kid that wrote off Adam Green and Moldy Peaches after Juno, I bet two kids that could appreciate a good tune had a new track to add to their playlist.

As much shit Float On gets, it's what got me into a lot of the music I listen to. Was pretty much the main catalyst in my music taste.

Exactly, thats sort of the point I was trying to get across...sure you lose that feeling of having a band in your pocket when they blow up, but then thousands of people start enjoying a good band and hopefully realize there is a lot of good music out there besides the top 40 crap.
