Any big plans this weekend???

Finishing a month of traveling to all corners of the mid-Atlantic on weekends.... going to a wedding in upstate NY, near Albany. It's kind of cool - the couple had a very, very small ceremony - family only - in their backyard on Long Island a few weeks ago. And now they are having the reception at a resort upstate. Some of our friends think it's a big pain in the ass, but i kind of like how they did it.

My sister's making me drive back to my high school to see a play with her (I think it's called Noises Off). In theory I could choose not to make the 30 minute drive back, but I'm not going to lie, all I'll do if I stay here is hang around and internet.

More sewing for me. I have 56 items made, and I'm hoping to make 30 more!

So this weekend is parents weekend here at Cornell College, and my parents aren't visiting. Which pretty much means it'll be boring as hell. My girlfriend's parents are in town, so I don't even get to be with her this weekend. :( But last weekend was amazing. So amazing I forgot to tell about it here. ---insert time machine-y sounds here--- It started on Halloween, with my gf and I all dressed up, me as a rude boy, and her as a ladybug (aw cute :)). After dinner, a couple friends and I went on a trip across the state to Grinnell College. We stopped in Iowa City to get free burritos in Iowa's only Chipotle, courtesy of tin foil hats. The Chairlift/Yeasayer concert was off the hook. Yeasayer actually managed to get so much energy going that a pretty intense mosh pit started during the last three songs. BTW, Grinnell has a top- notch little concert zone in one of their dorm buildings. It made us all wish we had chosen to go to Grinnell. They had a way better atmosphere than Cornell could ever hope to manage. One of my friends had been to two other Yeasayer concerts, and this one was by far his favorite concert of theirs. He nabbed the setlist when the show was over. It was written on the back of a scrap of a Bud Light box. We considered going to the afterparty on the porch roof and fire escapes of the dorm building, but then we realized that we wouldn't know anybody there. So that pretty much ended Friday night. Saturday, I went to the English department's production of Shakespeare's As You Like it, set in the wild west. That was fun. We sat in the front row and my friend got his beard stroked as part of the play. When that was done, we went to a dance party put on by the college radio station. That went until 10, and then we hung out and talked in the lounge until security kicked us out of the commons at midnight. We moved the talk to a lounge in a dorm building, which lasted until we stumbled back to our rooms in a drowsy stupor. Then came Sunday. It was a friends birthday, and I helped his girlfriend set up a surprise party, complete with birthday jello. After we finished the jello and ice cream, we all went outside down to this pond to hang out. Me and some friends then went on a tree climbing expeditions. We climbed some pretty extreme trees. Awesome. After dinner, I went on a road trip to Cedar Rapids, where I picked up 13 cans of cheap spray paint, and a black light. We stopped to eat at a taco bell after we searched for half an hour for this chinese buffet that had good food (paradoxical, i know). I got back, and a bunch of people decided that the fact that my roommate pretty much doesn't exist makes my room a good party spot. So I was unexpectedly crashed by a ton of people. I had 9 people smashed into a 12 x 10 foot room with furniture at peak volume. The party was pretty much all to get one certain person drunk. This person is a ridiculously funny drunk (he randomly speared a window with a pool cue last time he drank. We now call him Quequay), and they sadly overdid it. He finished off what was left of a bottle of hawkeye vodka (nasty stuff. like rubbing alcohol.) and has now sworn never to drink hawkeye again. Anyways he surpassed the funny stage, to where he was just a lethargic drunk. The party moved out of my room, and out to the porch for some fresh air and garbage-can free puke space (ick) after the bottle finished. So I departed and headed downstairs and watched part of The Golden Kingdom with some friends. That got boring, so I went to the commons lounge and I did my homework (didn't finish :(). All in all, that weekend had pretty much everything that ever happens out here in nowhere, IA, all crammed into three days. I don't think I can live up this weekend.

damn.... nice!

That was a good story, Herky. Funny how the really crazy shit was saved for Sunday, eh? I went to the Hold Steady/Drive-By Truckers show last night, it was awesome. DBT completely rocked and the Hold Steady is the Hold Steady. It was just a great rock show. I'd never seen HS before, they were one of the highest bands on my list to see, if not the highest. They didn't disappoint but surprising myself, i'd say i actually enjoyed DBT more. Not taking away from any of it though - it was an awesome night. Got an open bar for a friend's birthday party tonight, looks to be rowdy :)

just got back shopping for my creepy dungeon photoshoot... found some cheap dolls at the goodwill & dollar store, the clerks looked at me funny, lol. Got gauze & bandage tape, the model is making fake blood, gonna be really cool/creepy/horror like, really outside my comfort zone. yay!
