A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick. Never saw the movie, can't find it for sale/rent@Blockblister/download anywhere, so I figured I'd read the book. It's pretty good so far.

what happened to the logo with Umberto Ecco on the bedside table? Foucault's Pendulum rocks!

what happened to the logo with Umberto Ecco on the bedside table? Foucault's Pendulum rocks! Updated the logo for us for now.... playing around with a few ideas. Don't worry, the sexy hip & foot, plus baby's copy of Ecco is still on Tsururadio.com, so it's not lost if we want to go back!

yeah? what's it about, never saw the movie.. Basically, it starts off flipping between this guy who takes drugs, Substance D, alot, and his life, and this cop who has to catch people who take the drug, but throughout the story you realise that the cop and the guy are the same person and the drugs have split his personallity so he doesn't realise that he's narcing on himself. It's pretty good. I downloaded A Scanner Darkly and got sent a 32 page legal document from Warner Bros! Ouch

And how did WB know you grabbed the movie?

It's an actual novel, I can't stand graphic novels. It just has a cartoon cover because the movie was done with rotorscoping, where they film the whole movie and then draw over each frame to make it look like a cartoon.

tsuru, my lady reads faster than me too!

tsuru, my lady reads faster than me too! That books scanner is amazing, and hypnotic.... but yeah, she cranks through books. Though that Umberto Ecco slowed her down a smidge...

I agree, Eco is fabulous and I'm guilty of reading The Name of the Rose more than once. :) Just finished The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde and looking forward to the rest of the series. Very imaginative!

tsurubride- 04-25-2008

I've also read the Eyre Affair. I love Jane Eyre, and twisted "fairy tales" are one of my favourite genres, but I didn't love the series as much as I hoped I would. I kept reading them, until the 4th or 5th book in, until I realized that if I wasn't in love with them I should just stop reading them. I've read a couple of his books in his other series as well. Again, not bad, but not enough to get me permenately committed.

Just finished reading this. The author wrote the story and then cut out all the text from 1960s womens magazines. Interesting concept, OK story. Just started reading: And so far so good. Well written and entertaining. Definitely lighter fare than "Reading Lolita in Tehran" (which was amazing!), but still good, and I only started it last night.
